TV Editing: Quotes and the Cut Transition

The following link is a YouTube video discussing the scrupulous and unscrupulous use of the cutaway as an editing technique. It’s a pretty excellent demo of how the sausage gets made: how audio tracks can be manipulated in conjunction with the video, either for time reasons, or for unscrupulous purposes.  The examples used include two 60 Minutes interviews – with Julian Assange and Mark Zuckerberg – and one interview for Jesse Ventura’s Conspiracy TV about global warming.  Interesting stuff.
