Information as Power (Niagara University)

In this upper-level course, we discuss the role and nature of information through a number of different topics:  Information theory, network theory, political economy, how media business dictates content (and vice versa), advertising and consumer culture, propaganda, copyright and intellectual property, etc.  It’s quite fun to teach, and the students seem receptive to most of the class material and themes.  They might grumble a bit about some of the longer readings (Benjamin, in particular), but overall, they seemed to be glad to have read them.\
